Wooded Dune Lots and Narrow Access
Dune Acres is one of the smallest towns in Porter County and one of the most heavily wooded, built into dune and ravine ground against Indiana Dunes National Park. Two things follow from that.
The first is access. Narrow, winding drives and houses set into slopes mean a bucket truck frequently cannot reach the tree. Most work here is climbed and rigged down in sections rather than reached from a boom. That takes longer and it prices differently, and we would rather say so before we quote than discover it on the day.
The second is what the trees are doing. On sand slopes the root systems are holding the face together. Removing the wrong tree destabilizes ground, not just canopy. We plan removals here around what the roots are holding as much as around where the stem will fall.
