Tree Service in Joliet, IL — Removal, Trimming & Stump Grinding

Joliet is the largest city in Will County we serve, and the tree work here spans the full range. Century-old silver maples shade the near west side. Post-war neighborhoods lean heavily on ash. Newer subdivisions on the south and west ends still have a young canopy filling in. Pro Tree Service has run crews through Will County since 1989.

Our Services in Joliet

Tree & Bush Removal — We handle full removals and haul away the brush and logs. Our estimates include stump removal. We can also haul away the residual grindings after the job for an additional fee.

Tree Trimming & Pruning — We clear sidewalks, driveways, garages, and rooflines, and we thin, elevate, and reduce canopies. We trim in full leaf so you can see the finished shape before we leave.

Stump Removal & Grinding — We grind below grade so you can seed or replant the area.

Land & Lot Clearing — We prep sites for construction and reclaim overgrown parcels.

Joliet Requires a License for Tree Service Work

Under the Joliet Code of Ordinances, § 18-271, any person who engages in the tree service business must obtain a city license on an annual basis before working within the corporate limits. One company cannot transfer its license to another. The ordinance also requires the licensee to display that license to any customer or city official on demand.

Requirements change — confirm current status with the City of Joliet Community Development Department, Inspection Division, at 815-724-4070.

Ash Is the Story in Joliet

Emerald ash borer tore through Will County, and Joliet’s post-war neighborhoods lean heavily on ash. A lot of it still stands — and a lot of it has already died or will soon.

Dead ash does not get cheaper to remove. It gets more expensive and more dangerous.

Ash breaks down faster than most species once it dies. The wood turns brittle within a season or two. Limbs drop without warning. The trunk loses the structural integrity a climber needs to work it safely, so a tree we could have taken down efficiently while it lived turns into a rigging job that demands more equipment, more time, and more crew.

If you have put off an ash, the math only gets worse. Get an estimate now rather than after the tree comes apart.

Working in Joliet’s Older Neighborhoods

Surveyors platted the blocks near downtown tight — narrow lots, detached garages, alleys, and overhead utility runs threading through the canopy. There is usually no drop zone, so we climb these trees and rig them down piece by piece instead of felling them.

That takes longer, and it shows up in the price. It is also the only safe way to take a large tree off a small lot without putting it through the neighbor’s roof.

Newer subdivisions on the south and west sides change the job entirely — open lots, room for a crane or a bucket, and usually a faster turnaround.

What this means for your quote: access drives the price more than the tree does. A number we give over the phone without seeing the property is not a real number. We look first, and the estimate costs you nothing.
