Pro Tree Service handles tree service in Ogden Dunes, IN and across Porter County — removals, trimming and pruning, stump grinding and 24-hour storm response. An ISA Certified Arborist leads our crews, and we have worked northwest Indiana since 1989.

Tree Work on a Dune Is Not Ordinary Tree Work
Ogden Dunes is built onto the dunes themselves, and that changes almost everything about how a job gets done. The Indiana Geological Survey puts the sand here at roughly three-quarters quartz, holding a stable face only above about a 32 degree angle. On a slope like that, the vegetation is doing structural work. Take the wrong tree out and you are not just removing a tree, you are removing what is holding the face together.
Access is the second problem. Narrow streets, steep drives, and houses set into slopes mean a bucket truck often cannot get where it needs to be. A good share of the work here is climbed and rigged rather than reached from a boom, which takes longer and prices differently. We would rather tell you that up front than discover it on the day.
And the town takes lake weather first. Storms arriving with northwest flow off Lake Michigan hit this side before anything inland.
Tree Trimming and Pruning in Ogden Dunes
Clearance over roofs and drives, deadwood out of mature trees, weight reduction on over-extended laterals. We prune to ANSI A300 standards and we do not top trees. Full detail on our tree trimming services page.
Removals
On dune ground we plan removals around what the roots are holding as much as around where the tree will fall. Where a tree can be felled safely we fell it. Where it cannot — which is often, here — we rig it down in sections under control. Every removal includes haul-away of wood and brush. See tree and bush removal.
Stump Grinding
We price stump grinding separately and grind four to eight inches below grade. On a slope we will talk through whether grinding a stump out is the right call at all, because sometimes the root plate is worth leaving. See stump removal and grinding.
Storm Damage in Ogden Dunes
We answer the phone 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call and describe what you are looking at and we will tell you honestly whether it needs a crew that night or can wait for daylight.
If there are wires involved, stay away from the tree, call 911, then call NIPSCO’s electric emergency line at 1-800-464-7726. More on how we work storms: emergency and storm response.
Ogden Dunes Rules and Our License
Because the dunes are what the town is built on, Ogden Dunes regulates vegetation removal more closely than most. Read the ordinances yourself at the Town of Ogden Dunes ordinance page. The town is the authority on its own requirements, and nothing here is legal advice.
We hold a contractor’s license with the Town of Ogden Dunes and keep it current.
