What The Village Chips, And What It Does Not

Chipping runs every Monday and Tuesday from April through October, weather permitting, with material out before 7 a.m. Monday. Branches can be as long as you like but no more than six inches in diameter, cut end facing the street. Excluded: bushes, trees or branches with the root system attached, and any pile containing foreign objects. Beyond the first free fifteen minutes, overabundance is billed at $75 for every fifteen-minute block.

Chapter 10: What Tree Service Justice Can Touch

So the parkway is village right-of-way, but the planting right and the maintenance duty both sit with you. Section 10-15(a) makes it unlawful to obstruct any street, alley, sidewalk or public way without authorization. Penalties under Section 10-1.1 run from $100 to $750.

Two Cemeteries In Under Three Square Miles

Justice is 2.84 square miles holding 12,600 people — and inside that sit Resurrection Cemetery and Lithuanian National Cemetery. Archer Avenue, Illinois Route 171, runs through as the main thoroughfare. The village was established in 1911 and is bounded by Willow Springs, Bridgeview, Hickory Hills and Bedford Park, with access to I-294 and I-55.

Cemetery trees are the oldest and largest in the village by some distance, and they are the ones that reach over neighboring property. If your boundary backs onto either cemetery, the tree causing you trouble may not be yours — and that is a conversation to have before anyone cuts. The flood-prone points are drainage rather than riverine: 75th and Cork, Marion Drive, the 71st Street ditch, the IML canal, and the 90th Street ditch.
